Welcome to Skerries Sailing Club
Dates For Your Diary
- Saturday/Sunday 4-5th September - Mirror Nationals
SSC is hosting the Mirror Nationals on the 4th & 5th September 2010. As with all events there are always a number of jobs to be undertaken, we are looking for volunteers to help out over the weekend. So if you have an hour or two to spare and are willing to get involved please email juniors@skerriessailingclub.com
- Friday 10th September - Seafood Buffet Night
As there were so many disappointed members who were unable to obtain bookings for the last seafood night, there will be another seafood buffet night on Friday 10th September. Book early with Donal on 086 249 5719 or email bookings@skerriessailingclub.com
- Saturday/Sunday 25-26th September - GP14 Leinster Championships
The Notice of Race and Entry Form for the 2010 GP14 Leinster Championship event are available here.
Club Security
The access codes for both changing rooms and the yard gate have been changed. Please contact your sailing class captain or any member of the committee to receive the new codes. (Contact details are available on the website or in the fixtures list if you are not sure who to ask)
N.B. – This code is your main line of protection in keeping your changing rooms free from thieves and vandals and to protect your boats and equipment so DO NOT reveal the code willy-nilly to non-members and ensure that younger members are discouraged from passing on the code to friends from outside the club.
Anti-Bullying Policy
The Committee has introduced a revised Anti-Bullying Policy for all members. This policy is available for download and we would urge all members, especially parents of junior members to familiarize themselves with the policy.
New Wednesday Sailing Series
The sailing committee will be organizing a new short race series for dinghies for Wednesday evenings during September. Commencing Wednesday 1st September at 18:45hrs., the competition will run until 29th September. However, starting times may have to be brought forward towards the end of the month as light fails. Please contact Hon Sail Sec., for further details.
Rescue & Capsize – Important Notice
A capsized dinghy may request assistance from a rescue boat without subsequently having to retire from Club Racing. The club has amended Rule 41 Section 4 of The Racing Rules of Sailing. The purpose of this rule change is to expedite righting of capsized dinghies and free up resources to broaden the scope of rescue available to the fleet as a whole. Assistance will be offered on a priority basis where more than 1 boat is capsized.
Club Boats
Reminder that there are 2 x Topaz (1, 2 person) and 1 x Omega (2, 3 person) dinghies available for use by members of the club. Text 0872748558 if you would like to take one out. Cost is €10. Please note (a) you must book a time slot before you take out a boat and (b) this service is only available to SSC members.
Crew/Crewing
If you are a boat owner and are looking for crew or are a member available to crew and looking for a berth, please contact info@skerriessailingclub.com and give us your details. We will endeavour to match you up with a suitable person.
