Welcome to Skerries Sailing Club

Dates For Your Diary

E-Boat Nationals

The E-Boats are in town this weekend for their Nationals. From Friday 16th through to Sunday 18th they will have 2 races per day. Bes of luck to the Skerries entries including Anthony Horrigan (Eejit), Richie Peel (L’Ejit), Paul Hick (Easy-Go), Matt Davis (Eventually) and their respective crews. (no pressure guys but…!)

There will be a B.B.Q in the Club Saturday evening after racing and all members are invited and welcome. Price is €12.

Volunteers Needed This Weekend (17/18th July)

As we have another very full schedule of racing this weekend we are short of some volunteers to help out on the water for Saturday and Sunday. We need 2 – 3 people for Saturday from 2pm to 5pm (including 1 RIB driver) and from Sunday from 11am to 3pm.

Email info@skerriessailingclub.com if you are available.

Racing This Saturday

The McNally Cup (Islands to Port) race is scheduled for this Saturday (start time 15:00hrs). Please note the Start/Finish for this race will be at the PIER END.

For those of you who make it back where will be a BBQ in the club after sailing. Price €12 and no need to book in advance.

Whale Sotted In Kelly's Bay

Highly unusual but a small Humpback whale became very fond of the committee boat during Wednesday racing in the bay. A similar whale was sighted off Howth on Monday. The whale, measuring approx 20-25ft stayed around for approximately 20 minutes and was observed by several boats and crews as they passed by the committee boat. Possibly explains the fast finishing times for some of the smaller dinghies!

Skerries Sailing Club Regatta

The Regatta date is fast approaching so block off your diary for Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th July. Race from Howth with the cruisers or in the bay with the dinghies. Entry fees are a recession busting €40 for a cruiser €30 for a dinghy and €15 for jnr & single-handers. BBQ on the balcony and music on Saturday after sailing.

Rescue & Capsize – Important Notice

A capsized dinghy may request assistance from a rescue boat without subsequently having to retire from Club Racing. The club has amended Rule 41 Section 4 of The Racing Rules of Sailing. The purpose of this rule change is to expedite righting of capsized dinghies and free up resources to broaden the scope of rescue available to the fleet as a whole. Assistance will be offered on a priority basis where more than 1 boat is capsized.
